Hello everyone,
I'd like to start a new thread because my Kia EV6 GT has a persistent problem. Perhaps someone has experienced something similar and found a specific cause or solution.
The vehicle originates from the USA and is currently being used in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Here's what happens:
• After switching off and locking the vehicle, it takes about 1–2 minutes for the alarm to trigger for no apparent reason. The car horn sounds and the hazard lights flash. The alarm stops after a while, but then triggers again. This repeats throughout the night.
• If I leave the vehicle unlocked, the alarm remains off. However, the 12V battery continues to discharge and the high-voltage battery repeatedly recharges.
• The 12V battery is repeatedly recharged from the high-voltage battery during the night. As a result, the high-voltage battery loses up to approximately 4 percentage points overnight.
I therefore suspect that one or more control units are not entering sleep mode after being switched off, or are being repeatedly woken up. However, this is only a suspicion so far; the responsible circuit or control unit has not yet been identified.
Already checked or ruled out:
• Kia Connect is deactivated in the vehicle.
• There are no retrofitted devices or accessories installed – no additional alarm system, no tracker, no dashcam, etc.
• The 12V battery was checked and has already been replaced. The behavior remained unchanged.
• Doors, hood and tailgate including the locking contacts were checked.
• The indoor monitoring system was ruled out as the cause.
• No error codes were found during the diagnosis at the Kia service center.
It is particularly noticeable that the increased energy consumption persists even when the vehicle is unlocked. The alarm system alone therefore cannot explain the entire consumption.
Has anyone else experienced this combination of repeated false alarms, frequent recharging of the 12V battery, and increased power consumption when the vehicle is switched off?
If the problem has been resolved for you: What was the specific cause and which repair helped? The name of the affected control unit or component, a part number, a software version, or details of how the workshop found the fault would be particularly helpful.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and advice!
